*Salary Range: $71,552 - $99,528

 

This position will be required to work in the office in Oak Ridge, TN a minimum of 2 days per week.


PURPOSE: The Operations Technologist is responsible for working with STEM Workforce Development (WD) staff to identify and govern implementation of key technological advancements that will increase efficiency and reduce operational constraints. The Operations Technologist will be involved in cross-organizational efforts, leading technological improvement projects from ideation through implementation, and training of program staff.

Responsibilities

Technology and Resource Integration:

  • Leads collaboration across STEM WD teams collecting feedback to identify process improvements to ensure quality deliverables are provided to meet both internal and external teams’ needs.
  • Leads process optimization and improvement efforts for technology-focused operational processes and data integration efforts.

Guidance & Training:

  • Implements, tests, and governs resource management tools and processes.
  • Develops and implements process, procedural, and training documentation ensuring all staff are adequately trained on resource management processes and tools as well as processes related to collaboration and operation of work with business support areas.
  • Special focus given to supporting technological improvements within the STEM WD units.

Technology Resource Management:

  • Maintains understanding of projects and programs managed by STEM WD, operating processes, and a working knowledge of the technology and software utilized.
  • Provides support for external customer facing activities as needed, related to technology equipment and tools.

Planning:

  • Coordinates with leadership team to provide insight and input on future technology resource needs to include software, equipment, and new products/services based on lessons learned, industry best practices, and identified customer needs.

Reporting:

  • Conducts research on new and emerging technologies, creates reports, and delivers briefings to management.

Other Related Duties:

  • Represents the organization on various committees and professional societies, and at national meetings and public forums.
  • Actively participates by leading a specific activity or event for one or more internal ORAU or ORISE teams/committees, especially those promoting participant engagement and support of STEM WD mission and operations and the Annual Lab Plan.                                                                                  

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, scientific, technical, education, or related field and 6-9 years of job-related experience is required. A master’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements (a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience, associate’s degree and 10 years of experience, or high school diploma and 14 years of experience).

 

The successful candidate will have a strong record of achievement and performance in leadership, program management, and supporting staff. 

 

Other relevant experience needed to meet the demands of this position includes:

  • Experience with strategic planning, project management, and risk management.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups of individuals from different educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff and leadership.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in business development activities such as writing proposals, identifying potential clients and opportunities, and developing outreach efforts.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organizing and managing multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to use commercially available and custom software programs for daily business communications, presentations, data analysis, report preparation, and other functions.
  • Ability to analyze business processes and activities to determine areas for improvement.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard work software and experience with implementing technological solutions across multiple company business units.
  • Experience with leading cross-organizational teams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate including written, verbal, and other official correspondence.
  • Ability to manage and track multiple projects is required.

 

*The candidate’s starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate’s qualifications to determine salary.
